Student Dietetics Association

Student Dietetics Association (SDA) was the first registered student organization (RSO) I joined in college. I was a member all four years of my undergrad and got elected president my senior year. The purpose of this club is to bring dietetic students together as well as aid in the development of dietetic student's professional career by providing opportunities to gain dietetic work experience. Some of our events during my time as a member included cooking classes at UIUC’s recreational building in the instructional kitchen, meetings with alumni dietitians as guest speakers for our members to ask questions and learn about their path to becoming an RD, and study sessions at cafe’s or libraries. As president my responsibilities included strategizing events and activities for members to gain experience, typing outlines for our general meetings, leading over 60 members in general meetings and club events, setting up and working the SDA booth at UIUC events and fairs, contacting and booking guest speakers for meetings, and planning the the event calendar for each semester.

NutrImpact

The purpose of NutrImpact is to positively impact the community with nutrition education. I was also a member of this RSO all four years of my undergrad and was elected treasurer my senior year. Teaching elementary school kids about MyPlate, making cards for nursing homes, and speaking to girl scouts about snacks that will best fuel their daily activities are just a few of the events that we hosted. As treasurer, I was responsible for collecting dues from members each semester, properly depositing all funds, giving reimbursements to members for different club materials, planning and putting on club fundraisers, maintaining the club’s budget, and keeping accurate records.
